The All Manipur Youth Protection Committee (AMYPC) urged the political parties of the state to stop playing the blame game in politics at least during these critical days of COVID-19 pandemic.
A release issued by AMYPC president L Shyam Khuman stated that while there is cumulative increase in the cases of COVID-19 in the state, many states of India have recorded lower cases of COVID-19 in the past few days, and some states had even lifted the lockdown.
Amid this situation, various political parties particularly the opposition party ‘Congress’ and ruling party ‘BJP’ are playing cheap politics in the state. It is unfortunate that one party is fighting by pointing out mistakes of the other party and vice-versa which included the present hike in prices of petroleum products in the state, it added.
The release stated that everyone knows that increase of prices in petroleum products mainly affects the economically backward group. It would have been much better if the Congress party had come up with positive criticism in connection in this regard instead of attacking the ruling party just to gain political mileage.
On the other hand, ruling party BJP should also have given a good response to prevent the war of words between them. As the prevailing condition of the pandemic is still not stable, it is not the time to play politics. They should ponder about saving people’s lives with dedication during these critical days of COVID-19, it added.
