Kangpokpi district became the first assembly constituency in Manipur to have a Covid-19 Vaccination Bus with its launch by MLA Nemcha Kipgen on Wednesday.

The vaccination bus is an initiative of the local MLA Nemcha Kipgen to boost Covid-19 vaccination drive in her assembly constituency.

The launching ceremony of the COVID-19 vaccination bus for Kangpokpi assembly constituency was held in front of the deputy commissioner Kangpokpi office in the presence of SDO Kangpokpi, SDO Champhai, CMO Kangpokpi, and Covid task force representatives.

The MLA said that the vaccination bus is launched to boost the vaccination drive under Kangpokpi assembly constituency, and the bus will be used to transport any willing individual to the vaccination site at the inspection bungalow hall at Kangpokpi district headquarters.

“Our Prime Minister provides free vaccines to the people and as a local MLA, I provide my people free transportation for vaccination,” said Nemcha Kipgen.

Kipgen said that with the detection of the new Delta Variant in the state, it has become very important to get vaccinated to stay protected from the new variant.

With curfew enforced in the district and difficulties of transportation, many people could avoid the vaccination. So, to reach out to all willing individuals and get them vaccinated on time, the vaccination bus is launched, she added.

The MLA in a review meeting held before the launching of vaccination bus emphasised the importance of vaccination and exhorted Covid task forces to come with innovative ideas to convince the people and make them aware of the importance of vaccination in their respective areas.

She also said that with the launching of the vaccination bus, the task force could transport all willing individuals from their areas easily to the vaccination centres following SOPs.

She appealed to all the people of Kangpokpi assembly constituency to get vaccinated for a Covid-free Kangpokpi assembly constituency.

According to the district chief medical officer, only 16,923 people got vaccinated and out of it 14,532 got the first dose and 2,391 only recieved the second dose.

The chief medical officer, while highlighting the low percentage of vaccination in the district, exhorted the Covid task force to start extensive awareness campaigns.

Meanwhile, DC Kangpokpi Somorjit Salam said that considering the low percentage of vaccination in the district, a joint meeting was held today with the medical department and chart out plans and strategies to impart awareness among the masses.

He continued that an extensive awareness campaign will begin from Monday and exhorted the task force to assist the district administration and medical department in imparting awareness on vaccination.

With 21 new positive cases detected in the last 24 hours, the active case in the district climbed to 120.
