Manipur Police detain 231 COVID-19 SOPs violators

A sum of Rs 30,300 were collected from the COVID-19 SOPs violators as per law.

In a drive by Manipur police to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the state, 231 persons were detained on Thursday and released later after warning.

A release by IGP (Ops), Nodal Officer (COVID-19) for Manipur Police, E Priyokumar Singh said that altogether, a sum of Rs 30,300 were collected from the COVID-19 SOPs violators as per law.

The police department have warned that those who violate the guidelines and restrictions shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws. The guidelines and restrictions issued by the state government and state disaster management authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic included wearing of mask In public places, maintaining social distancing in public places, no spitting in public places and others, it added.
