YPHU Lalambung, WAFA Wangoi enter quarter-finals of 11th Shaheed Manoranjan Football Tournament 2021
YPHU Lalambung sailed into the quarter-final in style beating GC CRPF by 6-0 goals in the 11th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF Football Tournament 2021.

YPHU Lalambung sailed into the quarter-final in style beating GC CRPF by 6-0 goals in the 11th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF Football Tournament 2021, organised by CRPF 143 Battalion and played at SAI Ground, Takyelpat.
Taking on the host team, YPHU made a cautious approach in the game but the urge for an opening was evident and made a surge in the 11 minute and proved effective when K Arun fetched the opening goal. GC CRPF carried out their run well but at the end moment wasted it.
Instead it was YPHU who strategised their move well and increased the lead when Olen made scoring looked easy, finding the net in the 23 minute of play and later went to fetch his second goal in the 43 minute to post a comfortable 3-0 goals lead in the first half.
The second half saw much more aggression from the teams but the goal still eluded the CRPF men. With three goals in their kitty, YPHU team jumped on every chance and picked the fourth goal from Commando in the 55 minute of play and Renedy consolidated it with another goal in the 61 minute to boost the morale of his team. Later it was turn of Olen who came up with his hattrick goal, when struck the winning goal in the 65 minute for the resounding victory on Friday.
YPHU player Manisana and GC CRPF players Surjit and Mangte Raja got yellow cards from referee N Ibungo for dangerous play.
In the other pre-quarter-final match, WAFA Wangoi thrashed LYCC Liwa Chaning Chandel by 7-1 goals to move into the quarter-final.
It proved to be a one sided game as well as WAFA started the onslaught right from the whistle. E.Joykishan was at his scoring best when he struck the opening goal in the 9 minute of play and went on to fetch two more goals in the 19th and 30th to bring up hattrick goals for the lead.
The second half failed to bring any relief to LYCC team as WAFA pounded them with four more goals with Peter Haokip scored two goals in 54th and 80th minute while N Suraj in 59th and H Naobi in 65 minute for the complete rout of its opponent. The lone goal for LYCC was scored by SK Damme in the 74 minute.
