Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign: Ima Inaobi Ningsing Maheikol, Tentha Khongbal declared drug-free institute

Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee, Thoubal and Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal organised an awareness programme and slogan writing competition on the theme of ‘Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse’ at Ima Inaobi Ningsing Maheikol Temtha Khongbal on Monday.

The occasion witnessed the presence of pradhan of Tentha GP, Naorem Pradip; DSWO of Thoubal, Arambam Kameshwar; member of NMBC, Thoubal, Y Laksman; DYC, NYK Thoubal, Michal Mate; and principal of the school, Moirangthem Jayenta as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.

Y Laksman elaborately explained the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and urged the youths to enhance spiritual and moral values of life based on his teachings and abstain themselves from the clutches of drugs.

Michal Mate spoke about the importance of proper career guidance in shaping the future of the youths and NYK, Thoubal is ready to lend every kind of support on career guidance and disaster management procedures.

Principal of the school, in his speech expressed that the ill effects of drug abuse can be eliminated by giving proper awareness and knowledge to the general mass especially the youths. The parents and guardians also have the major role in giving proper guidance to make them a good citizen in future.

Naorem Pradip clearly stated that drug abuse had become a social problem since the number of drug and alcohol users and alcohol sellers are increasing day by day. He expressed that today is the day for teaching the youths on how to choose the brighter path of life away from drugs.

In his presidential speech, Arambam Kameshwar said that youths are the pillar stones of a strong society. Hence, they need to be mentally and physically fit so they should try to abstain themselves from any kind of drugs and should focus on their ambitions in life.

Slogan writing competition for school students was conducted as a part of the programme and the first, second, third and two consolation position holders were given prizes by the dignitaries.
