While appreciating the all sections, particularly the Rongmei community for the good response in fighting against the pandemic COVID- 19, the NSCN-IM Zeilad Region said that there is no option left but to fight back.

The central administrative officer (CAO) Zeilad Region of NSCN/GPRN in a press statement stated that the COVID-19 pandemic has done the worst. It has devastated the world economies, shattering the lives of people across the world, respecting no boundaries; the infectious virus has finally reached Naga homes in many parts of Nagalim.

“We are hugely indebted to Rongmei peoples’ representatives attached with district officials, TADC, Rongmei Councils, RSOM, RNYO, Luh Phwam, Church leaders, village authorities, health workers and other civil society members who have selflessly come forward to contribute in kind, cash and prayers to deal with this unprecedented pandemic crisis,” it said.

“It is a painful story all the way as our boys and girls who ventured out across the metropolitan cities across the country in search of employment to help their home economy, were forced to return home,” it said.

To help run the quarantine centres, the Rongmei people have put forth their best with a sense of responsibility towards their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters. The Zeilad Region is concerned of the burden of running the quarantine centre in various locations, it added.

The organisation has also taken into consideration the safety angles necessary to help control the spread of the highly contagious virus. “Accordingly, we came forward with an amount to help the twenty-three  institutional quarantine centres located in Tamenglong headquarters, Luangba, Longmai, and Khoupum areas, and also to the forty-seven ,47, community quarantine centres within the Zeilad Region jurisdiction,” the statement said.

Significantly, this pandemic has caught the unprepared and forced everyone to awaken from deep slumber. The pace of innovative planning was also below level, the release said.

“Nevertheless, we must stay positive and take control of our new approach as we re-strategies to face the challenge ahead, without losing focus of our common destiny,” it added.

“We must give a new meaning to our economic activities to get a good return to strengthen home economy, ensuring transparent governance to the grassroots level of village institutions, rejuvenate the social fabric of Nagaism but not forgetting to work in solidarity with God,” CAO added.
