For a dry run of COVID-19 vaccination, a team led by advisor to CM (Health), Dr Sapam Ranjan inspected the district hospital of Churachandpur on Friday.
The team included director of NHM, Dr N Shyamjai Singh; director of Family Welfare, Dr P Shyamsunder Singh; SPO of UNDP, Dr Jujurani; state programme manager, I Rajeev; and chairman of district NHM, Pawan Yadav along with officials.
During the inspection, Dr Sapam Ranjan said that date and time for COVID-19 vaccination is not fixed yet but will be notified soon from the Union Health Ministry. Saying that the vaccine will be free for everyone, he asked the medical superintendent of the district hospital to arrange better rooms for vaccination. He also said that at least five to six doctors will be trained in a few days for the vaccination programme.
“2020 was a terrible year due to COVID-19 pandemic, which is not over yet. However, a strong teamwork has made the recovery rate of more than 90 percent in the state. The vaccine will be available soon and for a smooth vaccination programme, doctors and health workers need cooperation from the people,” Dr Ranjan said.
The vaccination will be prioritised in such a way that health workers will be vaccinated first, followed by frontline workers and people above 50 years of age. Rest will be vaccinated after the three groups, he added.
