Manipur on Sunday recorded a fall in the new COVID-19 cases below the 50-mark and the number of recovered cases in the state surged to 25,646 with 134 new recoveries, the state health department said.
The state recorded 48 new COVID-19 cases and one death in a span of 24 hours, taking the state's caseload to 27,646 and death toll to 337, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.
A 48-year-old man from Imphal East died at RIMS hospital in Imphal in the last 24 hours, the release stated.
Of the new positive cases, Imphal West reported 23 cases, Imphal East - 14, Thoubal - 4, Bishnupur - 2, Ukhrul -2, Tengboupal - 1, and Tamenglong - 1.
All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
The number of active cases stood at 1,663 (General Population - 1,458 and Central Security Personnel - 205) and the state's recovery rate stood at 92.76 per cent.
The state health deparment further stated that in view of the declining trend of COVID deaths in the state, OPD services in RIMS and JNIMS will resume soon. It also advised the public to dial 104 – Manipur Mental Health Helpline (9 am to 9 pm), for mental wellbeing.
