As observed across the globe, the Dedicated People's Union (DPU) Moreh under the aegis of Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) observed the World AIDS Day at Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh on Tuesday under the theme ‘Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility’.
Red Ribbon campaign at different parts of the town by staff of the organisation marked the day. Red Ribbon were tied to different locations such as Moreh police station, officials of 43AR, Addl SP complex Moreh, CDO complex and villages bordering Moreh town.
As a part of the observation, Project Manager of DPU Lucky Angomcha stated that awareness among the public and responsibilities of the society is crucial in controlling the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Due to the negligence of the Society, HIV/AIDS has caused lots of deaths. As such, the WHO declared it as a pandemic and observed World AIDS Day since 1988 to spread awareness.
He stressed that people should be made aware and educated about how the virus spread. When everyone understand how it is transmitted, we can curb HIV/AIDS, he added.
