Manipur Tourism Minister Oinam Lukhoi along with officials of the Tourism department and Manipur Police Housing Corporation Ltd (MPHCL) inspected the ongoing construction works of Eco-Tourism Park at Cheirao Ching, Thangmeiband, Imphal West on Tuesday.
While briefing the media during the inspection, the minister said that the construction work is executed by MPHCL under the Development of Eco-Tourism Project and its estimated budget is Rs 13.30 crore. The construction will be completed by the last week of January and make it open to the public after inauguration, he added.
Lukhoi further said that the idea of constructing the eco-tourism park at Cheirao Ching was given by Chief Minister N Biren Singh as the spot makes a good view of Imphal city and moreover, it is a memorial and holy place for the people. He also lauded the contractor of the project, Birjit, who has proceeded the construction works so far, though the Centre has sanctioned only 40 per cent of the total budget.
“The park will be a great spot as people can enjoy the natural fresh air with a beautiful sight, moreover there will be a cafeteria and proper facility for public toilets. The government has picked out many other locations for setting up such eco-tourism spots in the state in the interest of the people,” said the tourism minister.
