Manipur's COVID-19 confirmed tally spirals to 15,778

One more died of COVID-19 and a total of 315 more people tested positive for Coronavirus in Manipur.

COVID-19 death toll rose to 117 as the disease claimed one more life and a total of 315 more people tested positive for Coronavirus, pushing the confirmed tally in Manipur to 15,778 on Monday, the state health department said.

A 53-year-old man from Churachandpur died of Covid-19, while a total of 285 persons (149M, 136F) from the general population and 30 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases in a span of 24 hours, according to a 5 pm release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room Monday.

The new positive cases from the general population are 62 from Imphal West, 79 from Imphal East, 45 each from Tamenglong and Churachandpur, 17 from Thoubal, five from Noney, two from Kangpokpi, 21 from Kakching, one each from Ukhrul, Chandel, Senapati and Bishnupur, and five from Tengnoupal, the release stated

At least 17 from IW are returnees from other states while the rest are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release added.

Meanwhile, the release also stated that 172 more patients have been discharged. They are two from CAP, 11 from home isolation, two from JNIMS, six from RIMS, seven from Thoubal, two from PR Kakching, 38 from UNACCO, 69 from Lamboikhong, four from Senapati, one from DH Chandel, 22 from RD Wing, two each from Sadhbhavna, Lanva, Jiribam and Bishnupur.

The cumulative number of recovered cases is 11.913 (General Population 9,561 and Central Security Personnel -2,352) and the recovery rate is 75.50 %. The number of active cases is 3,748 (General Population 3,43land Central Security Personnel -317), while the cumulative number of positive cases included 2,673 Central Security Personnel, the release added.

“If you were in contact with a positive person, self-isolate immediately and contact COVID Control Room or a CMO for testing,” Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson, Health Department, Manipur stated in the release.
