Two patients succumbed to COVID-19 at the isolation ward of Churachandpur District Hospital on Saturday taking the death toll in the district to nine (five males and four females). Both the deceased persons were diabetic patients. They were buried as per SOPs.
Briefing the media in this connection, the Churachandpur CMO appealed to the people to take maximum responsibility in fighting COVID-19.
The CMO said that with rapid increase in COVID-19 positive cases every day, the district administration will not be able to conduct tests as the transmission rate has become uncontrollable in the district. There is a shortfall of medical staff in COVID Care Centres and home isolation is the only option at present, he added.
The additional SP said that this week they have conducted Jan Andolan drive and made an announcement that people must strictly follow SOPs. Shop to shop awareness campaigns were also carried out and displayed SOP rules at various shops and police vehicles, she added.
By October 20, punitive action will be taken up by the police department including monetary fines and FIR against any individual who does not follow the SOPs, said the additional SP.
