In a relief for commuters to the district hospital in Tamenglong town, in a first in the disrict, a 25-seater mini bus for pulic conveyance was flagged off on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong, Armstrong Pame in the presence of chief medical officer, Dr Chambo Gonmei, district surveillance officer, Dr Rochunlung Kamei and district AIDs control officer, Dr Majachungliu Gracy and other dignitaries flagged off 25 seater mini bus at Chief Medical Office, Tamenglong complex, for public conveyance between Apollo bazaar and district hospital at Duigailong and will charge Rs 10 as bus fare.
The mini bus was gifted by former MLA Samuel Jendai before he tendered his resignation. The vehicle was used for transporting COVID- 19 patients however due to some defect, the district administration decided to make the mini bus for public use after being repaired.
It may be mentioned that auto rickshaws charge Rs 40 for the same distance between Apollo bazaar and district hospital.
Just after flagging off, the deputy commissioner and medical staffs led by chief medical officer boarded the bus from the chief medical office complex to Apollo bazaar and to the district hospital.
