MLA Alfred Kanngam Arthur on Saturday announced that he will bear the expenses of quarantine centres at village level for all the villages under 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency.

This is mandatory for every returnee within Tangkhul area.

As it has been the case, the expenditures of the first 14 days of institutional quarantine have been borne by the state government at the rate of Rs 200 per day per person. The expenditure of the second phase of quarantine at the village level is to be borne by the respective returnee. Appreciating that this would add to the burden of the returnees, the MLA of 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency has decided to bear their expenses.

Secretary of Hunphun Ukhrul COVID19 Committee, Khayingthing A Shimray in a press note has expressed profound gratitude to MLA of 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency Alfred Kanngam Arthur for his tireless contribution and systematic strategy in arranging quarantine centres in the fight against COVID-19.

The press note also lauded the decision of the MLA to provide ration for all the quarantine centres under his constituency.

Under Hunphun Ukhrul COVID-19 Committee, there are around 14 Tang Quarantine Centres. "For this, the Committee, with the approval of Hunphun Ukhrul Village Authority, has advised all the Tang Quarantine Centre Management Committee to collect Rs 200 per head per day to manage their mess. The daily food is catered by the concern tang. It should be clear that this arrangement has nothing to do with the District Administration or that of the MLA of 44-Ukhrul AC. "

We are compelled to issue this Press Communiqué following the unsavoury news item which appears in some local daily regarding quarantine centres of Ukhrul."
