As the number of COVID-19 cases continue to surge in Manipur, a police sub inspector posted at Lilong Police Station under Thoubal district on Tuesday distributed 500 face masks to the localities of Khangabok Part I, Bangshibodon Awang leikai through a local club.
SI K Bikramjit handed over the face masks to the members of Bangshibodon Youth Club (BYC) located at Khangabok Part I.
A club member said that the police officer donated the masks to help the localities in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
Expressing gratitude to the police officer, the BYC members distributed the masks to the needy persons of the locality.
Meanwhile, in Tamenglong, by-election intending candidate Huri Gonmei also handed over face masks and hand sanitizers to BJP Tamenglong district president Phungan Phaomei and BJP Tamenglong Mandal president Saul Kamei.
The protective equipment were handed over in a small function held at the BJP Mandal office Tamenglong headquarters at Glorylane Ward No V on Tuesday morning
Speaking to the media, Huri Gonmei said that the face masks and hand sanitizers were being distributed for all the frontline workers to combat the pandemic as per the direction of the higher authority of BJP.
A relief committee to work hand in hand with the COVID-19 Combating and Relief Committee 53-Tamenglong BJP Mandal has been formed, Gonmei said.
The BJP Tamenglong district president, Phungan Phaomei expressed his sincere gratitude to the new intending candidate and active member of BJP Manipur Pradesh.
Phaomei lauded Gonmei for the initiative to assist the public of Tamenglong through party’s instruction.
Huri Gonmei also distributed face masks and sanitizers to media persons, police personnel and the medical team.
