Nagaland COVID-19 positive tally crosses 2000 mark with 194 new cases

Dimapur reported 136 cases, Zunheboto 36 and Kohima 22, according to an update posted by the state Health Minister S Pangyu Phom on Twitter.

The total COVID-19 confirmed cases in Nagaland has crossed the 2000 mark with the highest single-day spike of 194 new positive cases reported from three districts on Monday, official sources said. 

Of the 194 cases, Dimapur reported 136 cases, Zunheboto 36 and Kohima 22, according to an update posted by the state Health Minister S Pangyu Phom on Twitter. They are among the 845 samples tested, he said.

"COVID-19 Update! 194 new +ve cases have been confirmed out of 845 samples tested. 136 from Dimapur, 36 from Zunheboto & 22 from Kohima. Necessary contact tracing has been activated and all primary contacts are under self isolation," the health minister tweeted on Monday evening. 

With it, the state's total positive tally reached 2,129 on Monday. This is the fourth day in a row when the state has reported over 100 new COVID-19 cases.

Of the total 2,129 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,473 are active cases while 648 patients have recovered from the infections.

So far, six COVID-19 patients have died in Nagaland while two patients migrated.

According to the state health authorities, one deceased tested COVID-19 positive but death was not due to COVID-19, and another deceased had co-morbidities, tested COVID-19 positive and under investigation.
