Though physically we're distant, Spiritually I am always with you.

And as I looked over the sea,

I could see the candles and cake,

Put on a square table,

At the porch of our house.

How clean you must be!

In your neat clothes,

Washed by sweet Mom,

Ah! I couldn't see your smiles.

Happy Birthday,my dear boy,

Many happy returns of the day.

'Tis the first time I am missing,

Your birthday.

And I will miss many birthdays more,

I am across the seas,

And can't return home,

Till my dreams come true.

Grow up,my dear son,

Be firm and don't cry,

My spirit is always with you,

Though physically we're distant,

Spiritually I am always with you.

I am sending you a birthday gift,

Take it and be brave,

Don't think I shall not return again,

This is my gift,

A hat,

Wear it, take a photo,

And send it to me,

Sometimes,I miss your smell,

How you ask questions at bedtime,

Till the moon lulls you sleep.
