Manipur's COVID-19 tally surges to 1,764 as 64 more test positive

All, except one volunteer from ITI quarantine centre, Lilong, Thoubal, are returnees from other states.

As many as 64 persons were confirmed COVID-19 positive in the last 24 hours since Wednesday, pushing the state's total positive tally to 1,764.
 
According to a release from COVID-19 Common Control Room, the 64 new cases included 33 from Imphal West, 11 from Senapati, nine from Ukhrul, five from Churachandpur, three from Tamenglong and one each from Kakching, Kamjong and Thoubal.
 
All, except one volunteer from ITI quarantine centre, Lilong, Thoubal, are returnees from other states, it said, adding that all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
 
Meanwhile, it further said that altogether 49 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. With it, the numbers of active and recovered cases stand at 635 and 1,129 respectively while the recovery rate is 64.00 per cent, said the release.
 
Meanwhile, sources informed that 33 new cases reported from Imphal West district included as many as around 25 people from the quarantine centre opened inside Manipur University.
