India continued to witness a fall in daily COVID-19 tally with 13,451 new positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the latest update by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Wednesday.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 active cases also fell to 1,62,661; lowest in 242 days. The total active cases account for less than one per cent of the total cases, currently at 0.48 per cent; lowest since March 2020.
Of the over 60.32 crore total tests conducted so far, the total COVID-19 confirmed caseload touched 3,42,15,653, while the death toll mounted to 4,55,653 as the disease claimed 585 more lives.
The country also continued to register high recovery rate currently at 98.19 per cent; highest since March 2020, as 14,021 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of recoveries from COVID-19 reached 3,35,97,339 as of Wednesday morning.

With the fall in the number of new positive cases, the weekly positivity rate (1.22%) remained less than two per cent for the last 33 days, while the daily positivity rate (1.03%) continued to fall below two per cent for the last 23 days.
Meanwhile, the country has administered over 103.53 crore vaccine doses across the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, as per the latest update by the ministry.
According to the Health Ministry, more than 107.81crore(1,07,81,96,865) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. More than 12.37Cr (12,37,64,029) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, it said in a release.
