Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Friday announced that the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 have been postponed till September in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
JEE Main, the entrance exam for admission to undergraduate engineering colleges will be held from September 1-6 and JEE Advanced will be held on September 27. NEET, the medical entrance exam for admission to MBBS courses, will be held on September 13, the HRD minister said.
"Keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education we have decided to postpone JEE and NEET examinations. JEE Main examination will be held between 1st-6th September, JEE advanced exam will be held on 27th September and NEET examination will be held on 13th September," Pokhriyal tweeted.
The HRD minister further said that the facility for correction of candidate's particulars and choice of centre cities in online application forms for NEET (UG)-2020 will be operational on the website http://ntaneet.nic.in from July 4-15.
"On demand from various candidates regarding correction in Candidate Particulars & choice of Centre Cities in Online Application Forms for NEET (UG)-2020, the facility for corrections will be operational on http://ntaneet.nic.in from 4th - 15th July," the minister said in another tweet.
This is the second time the exams have been postponed. The exams were initially scheduled to be held in April and May respectively. In the wake of the pandemic, the Education Ministry had rescheduled the JEE Main exam to July 18-23 and NEET exam to July 26.
