Polling for the 60-member Tripura Assembly is under way in over 3,000 polling stations. Voting began at 7 am on Thursday and will continue till 4 pm. Over 28.14 lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 259 candidates in fray for the Tripura Assembly election 2023.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded 55 candidates, including 12 women candidates while its ally IPFT will be contesting in six assembly seats. The Congress is contesting in 13 assembly constituencies, while the CPM is contesting in 47 seats. The Tipra Motha will contest in 42 assembly seats, the Trinamool Congress in 28 constituencies while there 58 independent candidates.
