Elon Musk has unveiled a new logo for Twitter, as part of a rebrand of the microblogging platform. Twitter's new logo - a white "X" on a black background replaced the iconic blue bird logo on Monday.

Twitter’s CEO Linda Yaccarino also confirmed the change by tweeting the design and said, “X is here! Let’s do this.”

"It’s an exceptionally rare thing – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square. X is the future state of unlimited interactivity – centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking – creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine. There’s absolutely no limit to this transformation. X will be the platform that can deliver, well….everything. @elonmusk and I are looking forward to working with our teams and every single one of our partners to bring X to the world," the Twitter CEO wrote in a series of tweets.

On Sunday, Elon Musk tweeted, "If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow. And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds." Musk also said, "If X is closest in style to anything, it should, of course, be Art Deco." And on Monday, the black-and-white X appeared on the microblogging site replacing the blue bird logo.

The "X" logo is modelled on WeChat, to make the micro-blogging platform into an “everything app”.  WeChat is a popular Chinese messaging app that allows its users to do multiple functions from messaging to payments and booking flights and hotels.

After taking over Twitter in October, 2023, Musk has named Twitter's parent company the X Corporation, whose parent is X Holdings Corp.
