The Great June Uprising, Unity Day is being observed annually to commemorate the 18 patriots who sacrificed their lives for the protection of the territorial integrity and boundary of Manipur in June 2001.
The Observance Committee appealed to the police personnel to give free movement to the civil body leaders and martyrs' families who would be coming to pay their respects at Kekrupat on June 18.
Different sections of the society, leaders, and students took part in the observation.
Chairman of the observation committee Sunil Karam said that the Centre must not hurt the sentiments and interest of any communities in the state while it tries to find any political solution for a particular group.
