The total lockdown was promulgated in the state capital on July 25 after the spike in the number of COVID-19 cases reported from outside the quarantine centres.
The extension has been necessitated by the recent surge in the COVID-19 cases in the district outside the quarantine centres, the District Task Force said.
Kohima Deputy Commissioner Gregory Thejawelie informed that total lockdown of the Kohima Municipal Area under Kohima Sadar Jurisdiction has been promulgated for seven days from July 25 till July 31.
The 65 new COVID-19 cases included 41 in Dimapur, 21 in Kohima, two in Peren, and one in Tuensang, the health minister posted on Twitter.
Many places in Kohima and commercial hub Dimapur have been sealed by the respective administrations as precautionary measures.
Of the 90 new COVID-19 positive cases, 61 are in Kohima, 26 in Dimapur, two in Peren and one in Phek, state Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom posted on Twitter.
