KIYC Kshetrigao cut short MPA Thounaojam’s innings by 16 runs to collect full points in the 8th MNCA Plate Tournament 2023-24 played at Public Ground, Khangabok Cherapur.
KIYC batsman Th Rajiv played an anchoring role in the early hours as he scored 48 runs from 88 balls but it was tailender Md Abdulla who pushed the run rate with 30 runs off 22 balls to make 151 runs for 10 wickets in 35.4 overs.
MPA bowler Priyokumar was the most successful one claiming 6 wickets from 8 overs for 31 runs.
MPA, in their response, batted sensibly with opener Ruman hitting 36 runs but the middle order batsmen made a dismal performance to keep them on a thin line of survival. However, Manikanta's desperate effort of 20 runs from as many deliveries failed to save them, managing 135 runs for 10 wickets from 37 overs.
KIYC player Th Rajiv was adjudged Man of the Match for his 4 wickets and 48 runs knock.
In another match, NCA Ningthoukhong posted a 5-wicket win over SSU Singjamei played at Lairenjam Public Ground.
It was the sheer effort of wicketkeeper batsman Anand who managed 34 runs to give SSU team 91 runs for 10 wickets from 18.5 overs. NCA bowler Robinhood took 4 wickets for 9 runs from 3 overs and later claimed the Man of the Match.
NCA reached the target in 19.2 overs for 5 wickets as opener Roshan hit 16 runs while Robinhood remained not out with 23 runs for the victory. SSU bowler Deepankar bagged 3 wickets.
In another match played at Dhobi Lampak, Kongba Khunou, PSC Khoyathong beat Sagolband United by 6 wickets. Sagolband United made 139 runs for 10 wickets from 30.3 overs while in reply, PSC achieved the victory in 22.1 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.
PSC batsman scored 51 runs from 46 balls while Gautam got an unbeaten 19 runs and was declared the Man of the Match.
