Men's football tournament kicks off in Noney

Altogether, 17 Football teams/clubs are taking part in the 11 Men's Knock-Out Football Tournament.

As part of the 76th Indian Independence Day celebration, 11 Men's Knock-Out Football Tournament kicked off at Longmai-2, Common ground under the theme ‘Our Goal towards Nation Building’.

The tournament was organised by Longmai Student's Union (LSU) in collaboration with 10 Assam Rifle Noney.

Jadonang Memorial College, Noney principal Khuigai Kamei and Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School Noney principal Gaichui Malangmei attended as chief guest and guest of honour respectively with Longmai Student's Union general secretary Janglung Gangmei on dais at the opening ceremony.  

In his chief guest speech, Khuigai Kamei expressed his gratitude to Longmai Student's Union and 10 Assam Rifles for inviting him and giving such an opportunity to take part as a chief guest in the programme.

He encouraged all the teams/club players to reveal their hidden talents with game spirit and to perform well. He also urged to maintain the game spirit in the days to come in the future tournaments.

As part of the opening ceremony, the National Anthem was sung by all participants. Altogether, 17 Football teams/clubs are taking part in the tournament.

The opening match was played between Noney Peaceland Youth Club (NPYC) and Longmai Bazar Youth Club (LBYC) and the former won the match by 1: 0.
