ESU, YWC pull off convincing wins in 12th AMFA Senior Women's Football League

The Women's League is the Pre-Qualifying Round for Indian Women League, where a top team will pick up to represent Manipur in the league.

ESU Wangkhei beat WFA Kakching by 4-0 goals in the opening match of the 12th AMFA Senior Women's Football League 2021-22 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.

The Women's League is the Pre-Qualifying Round for Indian Women League, where a top team will pick up to represent Manipur in the league.

Six teams ESU Wangkhei, YWC Langthabal, ICSA Irengbam, KRYPSA Naoremthong, MPSC Police HQ and WFA Kakching are participating in the pre-qualifying round.

The ESU team, who had represented Manipur in the IWL, found no difficulty in taming the lesser experienced WFA team, but took their own time settling down in the match. Halfway through the game, Chonaya Mahangnao got the break for the ESU team when in 27 minute to strike home the opening goal. Later I. Premeshori Devi made scoring easy when she pushed home the second goal in 33 minute for the lead in the first half.

WFA, struggling to find a foothold in the game, landed in more serious trouble when M. Manda found the third goal in 59 minute and later I. Premeshori Devi wrapped up the match with the fourth goal in the 68 minute for the victory today. ESU player Chonaya Mahangnao got a yellow card in the match.

In the second match, YWC Langthabal blanked MPSC by 2-0 goals with Remi Thokchom in the 45 minute and L Meneka Devi fetching the winning goal in 62 minute to collect a full point.

Meanwhile, in the 1st Lourembam Ananghal Veterans' Football Tournament 2021 organised by UVSA at Arapti Ground, Lilong Chajing, VSAI Thangmeiband beat KVFA Khurai by 2-1 goals in the opening match.

Bimolchandra and S Robichandra scored a goal each for VSAI team while the lone goal for KVFA was fetched by Subashchandra.

Works Minister Th Bishwajit Singh along with L Rameshwor Meitei, Deputy Chairman State Planning Board, Manipur graced the opening function along with others.
