Chandigarh, Punjab, Mizoram, Karnataka triumph in 12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship 2022

Hockey Chandigarh thrashed Hockey Arunachal by 7-0 goals in the 12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship 2022.

Hockey Chandigarh thrashed Hockey Arunachal by 7-0 goals in the12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship 2022 played at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak on Saturday.

In a Pool F clash of the meet, Hockey Arunachal had no reply to the maruauding approach of Chandigarh girls who struck in every quarter of the game. Tamanna opened the goal account for Chandigarh in the 15th minute of the first quarter from a field goal.

Chandigarh lost no time in consolidating their position in the second quarter when Supriya pushed home the second goal in the 17th minute. With little resistance from Arunachal, scoring was made look easy as Supriya got the angle right to send home her second goal in the 34rd minute and later skipper Kamaldeep Kaur scored two field goals in the 41st and 43rd minute to dictate terms in the game.

Enjoying the cool atmosphere at the stadium, Chandigarh inflicted further damage to Arunachal pride with Supriya making another field goal in the 53rd minute and Tamanna wrapping the scoring frenzy with the winning goal in the 55th minute for the victory.

In a Pool G match, Hockey Punjab made a mincement of Tripura Hockey by 30-0 goals to collect full points. Skipper Sukhveer Kaur led the charge for Punjab hammering home 10 goals while Ravneet Kaur scored five goals, Sukhmeet Kambo fetched three goals, Harleen Kaur, Kiranpreet Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur made two goals each, Jaisikdeep Kaur, Sania, Pawanpreet Kaur and Sukwinder Kaur chip in with a goal each.

As for the Pool H match, Hockey Karnataka beat Hockey Bihar by 2-1 goals. Both teams failed to ignite their passion till the second quarter of the game. However, Karnataka opened up in the third quarter with Priyanka Kumari fetching the opening goal in the 40th minute.

The fourth quarter proved better as both teams raised their game and it was Karnataka who was more in the kill mood with Khushi Kumari scoring the second goal from a field goal in the 55th minute. Bihar got the breakthrough from a penalty stroke in the 56th minute with Devika N beating the keeper but not able to save the match.

The fourth match of the day under floodlight between Mizoram and Telangana saw the former having a scoring spree beating the latter by 23-0 goals. The first quarter saw five goals being scored while in the second, 10 more goals were added by Mizoram and in the last two quarters, made four goals each.
