Victorious Manipur senior women team, who claimed the champion title of the 16th Hero Senior Women's National Football Championship, arrived to a warm welcome accorded by the All Manipur Football Association at the Imphal Tulihal International Airport this evening.
The team touched down at the Airport at around 4.45 pm in a Indigo flight and were warmly welcomed by AMFA officials and family members along with small numbers of fans, who were unaware of their arrival.
It may be recalled that Manipur beat Railways by 2-1 goals during penalty shootout in the final match played at Kerala. Out of the 26 championships held so far, Manipur has been champion for 21 times and four times runners up.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh had assured Rs 5 lakh each to the players and support staff of the team, on their epoch making victory.
