NPF urges ECI to reconsider date of counting of votes

The Naga People's Front (NPF) appealed to the ECI to reconsider the date of counting (December 3) for the upcoming state assembly elections in various states, including the bye-election to the 43-Tapi assembly constituency in Nagaland, as it falls on Sunday.

The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to reconsider the date of counting of votes on December 3 which is a Sunday.

The bye-election to Tapi assembly constituency of Nagaland will be held along with five states’ assembly elections from November 7 to 30, while counting will be held on December 3.

“I wish to bring to your notice that Nagaland is a Christian dominated state where 90 per cent of its citizens are Christians. You are indeed aware that Sunday is observed as a very solemn day of worship for the entire Christians and Nagaland is no exception. Therefore, the Naga People's Front (NPF) appeals to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to reconsider the date of counting (December 3) for the upcoming state assembly elections in various states, including the bye-election to the 43 Tapi assembly constituency in Nagaland, as it falls on Sunday,” the petition of the NPF signed by its secretary general Achumbemo Kikon stated.
