Nagaland creates three new districts

The three new districts are Tseminyu, Chumoukedima and Niuland

The Nagaland government has created three new districts- Tseminyu, Chümoukedima and Niuland- taking the total number of districts in the state to 15.

The decision for the creation of the three new districts was taken at a cabinet meeting on Saturday.

In its order issued on Monday, the state chief secretary stated that the creation of the new districts is in pursuance of the decision of the Cabinet conveyed on December 19.

The jurisdiction of Tseminyu district will comprise the existing Tseminyu Sub-division under Kohima District.

"The Governor of Nagaland is pleased to upgrade Tseminyu Sub-division to a full- fledged district with immediate effect. The jurisdiction of the new district shall comprise the existing Tseminyu Sub-division under Kohima District, Nagaland," the government notification read.

The jurisdiction of Niuland district will comprise the existing Niuland Sub-division under Dimapur district.

"The Governor of Nagaland is pleased to upgrade Niuland Sub-division to a full-fledged district with immediate effect. The jurisdiction of the new district shall comprise the existing Niuland Sub-division under Dimapur District, Nagaland," read another notification.

"Consequent upon the creation of Chumoukedima district, and upgradation of Niuland Sub-division to a full-fledged district, the governor of Nagaland is pleased to order the re-organisation of Dimapur district as under: The Dimapur district shall comprise of the existing Dimapur Sadar Area and the town and the villages earlier covered under Seithekema EAC Circle," the government said in another notification.

The 15 districts of Nagaland are Tuensang, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Zunheboto, Wokha, Phek, Dimapur, Peren, Kiphire, Longleng, Noklak, Tseminyu, Niuland and Chumoukedima.
