CoNESCCI resolves to uplift regional economy

The newly formed apex body of the North East States, the Confederation of North Eastern States Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CoNESCCI), on Tuesday resolved to work for the upliftment of the economy of the region by advocating the government for adopting new conducive policies for the benefits of all.

A total of three resolutions were adopted on the second day of the Confederation of North Eastern States Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CoNESCCI) held at Niathu Resort, Dimapur, Nagaland on Tuesday, stated a release.

It resolved to work as the voice and platform of the business community of the North East region at the national and Global level. It also resolved that special reference has been given to Act East policy and North East States of India in terms of Issues, Challenges and prospects, it said.

Attending the event, MLA and advisor, department of the Industries, Government of Nagaland, Hekani Jakhu congratulated on the formation of Apex Trade Body of the North East State of India, Confederation of North Eastern States Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CoNECCI) to bring a platform on the common economy of the region by pulling all the resources together, it mentioned.

She also emphasised on the unity, closer connect amongst the North Easterners in terms of Culture, Trade and Business and termed the conclave as “A historic event of the North East for the North East by the North East”, it added.

Three business summits including ‘Prospects of Business Convergence in the Northeastern States: Issues and Challenges’, ‘Investment and Business Opportunity in the untapped NE Market: Assessing, Strength, Challenges and Need for Policy Intervention’ and India’s Act East Policy and NE States of India: Prospects, Issues and Challenges were also conducted during the conclave, the release further said.

Professor Chongtham Priyoranjan Singh of department of Economics, Manipur University, acted as the expert at the first business summit with secretary general of Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Toko Tatung as session chair. Working president of Assam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sisir Kalita was the session chair of the second and secretary of Manipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Haorokcham Anil, participated in the third.

MCCI treasurer Laishram Monoranjan Singh and member Elangbam Sovid Singh also represented MCCI in the conclave.
