A two-day marathon meeting to hammer out the financial component for effective implementation of the Manipur State Cine Policy 2020 was conducted by the Manipur Cine Commission from Saturday to Sunday.
The two-day deliberation covered all aspects of the policy and concluded with a comprehensive recommendation to be submitted to the 4th Manipur State Film Commission for budgetary allocation approval for implementing the policy, stated a release.
The recommendations includes financial allocations for organising annual Manipur International Film Festival, academic activities, Manipur State Film and Television Institute, film archiving and documentation, setting of the Manipur Cine Corporation and a Visual Industry Park which would include content creation centres for gaming, advertisements, animation and production and post-production studios and labs among others, it stated.
This initiative is being taken up after the assurance given by Chief Minister N Biren Singh who heads the MSFDS and the Art and Culture Ministry, it mentioned.
The event was chaired by the commissioner of Art and Culture with the director of Art and Culture and secretary, Manipur State Film Development Society, MSFDS along with representative of the state’s film community, including presidents of Film Forum and Film Critic Association of Manipur, vice president, Manipur Film Society, Haobam Paban Kumar, film director and Alexander Leo Pou, film producers etc, it stated.
Manipur Cine Commission, the agency to implement and monitor the enforcement of the Manipur State Cine Policy 2020 was recently instituted, it added.
