"This will be a first not only for the state of Mizoram but the whole of Northeast, and will pave the way for promising boxers from Mizoram and the Northeast to enter and make a mark in the professional boxing arena both nationally and internationally, the sports minister said.

Since Mizoram is the first state to declare sports as an ‘industry’, the government continues its all-out effort in promoting promising sportspersons in all disciplines and affording them a steady means of income besides the fame, Royte said.

The boxing event "LPS Fight Night" will showcase promising Mizo boxers to promote Mizo boxers and the main title fight will have rising Mizo boxer Lalrinsanga Tlau pitched against Ghana boxer Eric Quarm, the sports minister added.

LPS Vision Director Lalswmliana Pachuau said that all the boxing matches will be telecast through a new pay-per-view channel on LPS Cable TV. Tickets will be sold for those who wish to attend the event at the venue, he added.

This will be only the second time that the title event is hosted on Indian soil.
