Khasi Jaintia Christian Leaders Forum calls for peace in Manipur

The KJCLF appealed to the citizens of Manipur to cease fighting and return to calm, and expressed its solidarity with all the victims of the violence in the state

The Khasi Jaintia Christian Leaders Forum (KJCLF) in Meghalaya has expressed serious concern over the unabated unrest in Manipur and called for an end to violence and restoration of peace in the state.

The KJCLF said in a release that it is deeply dismayed and saddened that violence is still continuing unabated in Manipur.

"The KJCLF is deeply dismayed and saddened that violence is still continuing unabated in Manipur."

The KJCLF had called an Emergent Meeting of the Forum on Thursday (June 8).

"The heinous violence which has claimed a number of lives, caused destruction to innumerable churches, properties and human settlements need to stop," it said.

The Forum appealed to the citizens of Manipur to cease the fighting and return to calm, and expressed its solidarity with all the victims of the violence and hoped that peace will be restored.

The Forum also called on all Christians, Churches and Christian Forums in the region to voice their concerns and show solidarity to the citizens of Manipur affected by this unmitigated violence, the release added.
