World Heart Day: 'Heart patients facing double edge threat, mortality due to COVID-19 pandemic'

Let’s all show our care, love and compassion towards care for heart patients on this World Heart Day, state nodal officer, NCDCS, Y Premchand said.

World Heart Day was observed by State NCD Cell under National Program of Prevention and Control of Diabetes, Cancer, Cardiovascular disease and Stroke, Manipur at various places across the state.

Heart patients are facing double edge threat, mortality due to the COVID-19 pandemic and less care of heart problems. Let’s all show our care, love and compassion towards care for heart patients on this World Heart Day, state nodal officer, NCDCS, Y Premchand said in connection with the occasion.

Premchand also said that drugs for hypertension and other major heart diseases are freely available at all NCD clinics and Health and Wellness centres across the state.

The state NCD Cell observed the World Heart Day in collaboration with District NCD Cell at different locations with activities, including awareness talk, CV Risk estimation Blood Test and ECG examination of NCD patients.

The state nodal officer also visited PHC Komlathabi as a part of the observation and reviewed the heart disease and NCD  screening activities in the community and discussed strategies to reach out to heart patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Public health specialist, Dr Dei Gratia Lamlee Kamei gave the theme speech during the observation function.

Program officer, Tata Trut, W Imo and state program coordinator, NCD, W Sheirangba also spoke on NCD risk factors and different benefits given by the program to NCD patients.
