A district-level observation of World Diabetes Day 2022 was held at the Inspection Bungalow (IB), Kangpokpi District Headquarters on Monday.
The event was observed under the theme, "Access to Diabetes Education" and it was organised by the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Cell, Kangpokpi.
Similar events will also be held at PHC/HWC Saikul, HWC Leimakhong, and HWC K.Chiru this month.
Dr Lamkhoneng Haokip, CMO Kangpokpi; Len Kamkhosat Khongsai, District Tuberculosis Officer, Kangpokpi, and Dr Paotinlal Haokip, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Kangpokpi attended the function as chief guest, guest of honour and functional president respectively.
CMO Kangpokpi Dr Lamkhoneng Haokip said that the blue badge on World Diabetes Day signifies the whole world under the blue sky to join hands in combating Diabetes and urged everyone to collectively fight Diabetes.
Len Kamkhosat Khongsai, DTO Kangpokpi stressed the importance of prevention and the requirement to do regular check-ups and strict drug compliance by Diabetes patients.
Dr Paotinlal Haokip said that personal determination is a must for every individual to prevent Diabetes while stressing the importance of regular small frequent meals for Diabetes patients.
Earlier, Dr A Pfuzia, DNO, NCD Kangpokpi said that Diabetes is a lifestyle disease preventable by a healthy balanced diet, regular exercise of 30 minutes every day, maintenance of normal body weight, and avoiding stress, smoking, and alcohol.
All ASHAs need to know the signs and symptoms, normal and abnormal values of blood sugar, and identify and refer patients to the appropriate centre, added Dr A Pfuzia.
