Women leaders of various communities and organisations and girl students in Chandel district took part in the "Women Oriented Legal Awareness programme" held in Chandel on Friday.
The programme on “Women & Law – Ensuring Social-Economic Upliftment of Women in a Society” and Tele Law Legal Services” was organised by the District Legal Services Authority, Chandel, in collaboration with Legal Aid Clinic Nungourok.
The programme, a part of the Integrated Delivery of Legal Services (IDLS-DISHA Schemes), was held at the All Tribal Women Organisation (ATWO) Office, Nungourok village.
Moikham Ronglo, Secretary, ATWO, accompanied by Jacky Lucy, Retainer Lawyer, DLSA, Chandel and JS Chamdil Anal, Panel Lawyer, DLSA, Chandel chaired the programme as resource persons.
JS Chamdil Anal spoke on the Tele Law Legal Services, explaining the benefits of the scheme. He also highlighted the easy availability of the Tele Law app on various platforms for both Android and IOS users and how it can help a beneficiary to avail Free Legal Aid and Services through the app. Later the participants were also assisted in downloading and registering the app in the said programme.
Jacky Lucy spoke on the topic “Women and Law” where she explained and briefed on the numerous Rights of women. She further stated that it is a must for a woman to know her rights in a society. She also encouraged the participants to be self-dependent, both socially and economically which will help in effective elimination of Gender inequality or Gender-based violence in a Society.
An Interactive Session with the participants was conducted during the programme.
