Woman shot dead in Imphal West

The deceased from Churachandpur district was left behind in Imphal amid the ongoing clash as she had a habit of loitering around on streets and had been taken care of by a Naga family at Lamphel quarter.

Unknown miscreants shot a woman at Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi in Imphal West under the jurisdiction of Lamphel Police station at around 8.30 am Thursday.

According to sources, the executive magistrate carried out an inquest on the body, and the body has been kept at RIMS mortuary after a mobile unit of state forensic science laboratory investigated the crime scene.

The Lamphel Police Station has registered a case on the incident, the sources said, adding that the deceased was later identified as Dongngaihching Hangzo, 57, of Churachandpur district.

Dongngaihching Hangzo, was staying at Evangelical Church at Lamphel in Imphal West for the last three years was identified by her cousin Lian Hangzo.

Lian reportedly stated that Dongngaihching Hangzo was left behind in Imphal amid the ongoing clash as she had a habit of loitering around on streets and had been taken care of by a Naga family at Lamphel quarter.

Lian received information that Dongngaihching had not returned to Lamphel since Wednesday night and later received the information that she had been shot dead near Shishu Nistha Niketan, Imphal West on Thursday morning.
