The Kuki Chiefs Association (KCA), Khengjoi Subdivision has condemned the poor construction of PMGSY road at New Samtal BRTF connecting New Songjang to Gamphajol, and announced not to support the ruling party if the damaged constructions are not repaired.

In a press meet, spokesperson of KCA and chief of New Songjang Village Thangjamang Haopik said that the 12 km-long Part 1, of the three parted road connecting New Songjang to Gamphajol, had completed construction by March of the year, but the condition of the road deteriorated drastically.

Deploring the alleged negligence of quality by the authorities concerned, he said the construction had also neglected to include culverts to allow the flow of stream from the hills, which resulted in erosion during rainy seasons.

Speaking on the occasion, chief of Molpibung Village Piter Yamthang Haokip said the worsening condition of the road poses a threat for emergency transportation and had resulted in accidents as well.

Chief of Gamphajol Village stated that with adamant appeals by the public, the contractor constructed a culvert at part 3 of the road, but neglected to include canals for the stream to flow through.
