The Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) has launched an indefinite bandh since Wednesday midnight as the Manipur government failed to withdraw its armed personnel and permanent structures from the Manipur-Nagaland border.

Replying to a query raised by the media during a press conference held at the chief minister’s bungalow in Imphal, Biren contended that the structure is truly constructed within the boundary of the state jurisdiction.

A letter in this regard has been conveyed to the Nagaland Government and a copy of the same had also been sent to the Union Home minister, he said adding it is believed that the issue will be solved soon through diplomatic and political ways.

Appealing to the SAPO to withdraw the indefinite bandh in the interest of the people at the earliest, the All Assam Manipuri Youths' Association (AAMYA) on Thursday had warned to launch counter bandhs or other counter measures along the Assam Nagaland border or in any area covered by Manipuri organisations led by AAMYA.

Due to the ongoing indefinite bandh at Southern Angami, many goods carrying trucks, especially the essential commodities which are coming towards Manipur are left stranded since the inception of the bandh.
