As Manipur awaits for the name of the new chief minister to be announced, a closed door meeting of top BJP leaders, including Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Kiren Rijiju, was underway at Thambal Shanglen, Nityaipat Chuthek in Imphal on Sunday.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju arrived in Imphal on Sunday as Central observers for the election of the BJP Legislature Party leader in the state ahead of the new state government formation.
The two Union ministers were accompanied by state Caretaker Chief Minister N Biren Singh and state legislators Th Biswajit and Y Khemchand, who had rushed to New Delhi on Saturday, and other Central leaders, including Sambit Patra and Bhupendra Yadav.
BJP emerged victorious in the recently held general elections to the 12th state Legislative Assembly 2022, as it secured 32 of the 60 seats in the state Assembly.
