With the increase of piggery, many youths have started collecting wastes which the pigs can consume. He further appealed to the people to start segregating solid wastes into degradable and non-degradable items as some people also started collecting plastic for recycling purposes.
If the people start the segregation process from home, then it will be easy for the garbage collector to collect wastes, he added.
Responding to the media, he said that the government is planning to set up a solid waste management unit for each district of Manipur and the department has already informed the concerned DC for Imphal East to find a place to set up the plant.
