War on Drugs 2.0: Woman drug peddler arrested with 4,000 suspected WY tablets

The consignment containing 20 packets with 4,000 suspected WY tablets was to be delivered to Delhi.

As part of Manipur government's War on Drugs 2.0 initiative, a woman drug peddler was on Wednesday arrested by Singjamei Police Station from Imphal Airport.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, in a Facebook post, said a security team of Indigo Cargo Service at Imphal Airport detected a consignment containing 20 packets with 4,000 suspected WY tablets.

According to the chief minister's Facebook post, the consignment was to be delivered to the address of Rana market Munirka courier service, Delhi.

The woman, Niangminthang, wife of Paukhandou from Tangnuam, Churachandpur district, who came to drop the consignment was detained and later arrested later by Singjamei Police Station from Imphal Airport.

A case has been registered and investigation is going on to find out all other involved persons, the chief minister said.

Meanwhile, a police team of Thoubal district also arrested two persons with 41 soap cases containing approximately 484 grams of suspected brown sugar on Wednesday.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, in another Facebook post, said the 41 soap cases of suspected brown sugar were found concealed inside a Bolero jeep.

The two arrested persons have been identified as Makakmayum Hefajuddin,27, son of Md Riaz of Lilong Sambrukhong Mamei and Md Washim Akram Boinao, 22, son of Md Abdul Rashid of Lilong Sambrukhong Awang.

"WAR ON DRUGS 2–0 Police team Thoubal District,intercepted a Bolero Jeep white in colour bearing Registration No. AS09D 0376 along NH-102 Uningkhong bridge, Wangjing and conducted a search of the vehicle during which 41 (forty one) soap cases containing approximately 484 grams of suspected Brown Sugar were found concealed inside the said vehicle. The two occupants of the Bolero namely Makakmayum Hefajuddin (27 yrs) s/o Md Riaz of Lilong Sambrukhong Mamei and Md Washim Akram @ Boinao (22 yrs) s/o Md. Abdul Rashid of Lilong Sambrukhong Awang. Thereafter, both of them were arrested on the spot at 9:30 am and the suspected Brown Sugar and the said Bolero Jeep," the chief minister posted on Facebook.
