Veteran journalist PR Shyam passes away

Veteran journalist Potshangbam Radheshyam Singh popularly known as PR Shyam passed away on Monday at RIMS Hospital at around 7.30 am.

All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) condoled the demise of veteran journalist Potshangbam Radheshyam Singh popularly known as PR Shyam who passed away on Monday at RIMS Hospital at around 7.30 am.

A condolence ceremony presided by AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shamjai was held at Manipur press club on Tuesday along with the members of the union and Editors Guild Manipur. President, advisor and members of the union also visited the residence of PR Shyam in Uripok Takhellambam leikai to show their condolence and comfort to the bereaved family. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.

PR Shyam was one of the founding members of AMWJU and served as the first general secretary of the union from 1974 to 1975. He started his journalist journey from a local daily Khollao. He also worked in another local daily called Simanta Patrika for a long time and also took great responsibility in forming the union.

He will forever be remembered by the journalists community.
