Vehicle lifter arrested, stolen vehicles recovered

One arrested person and stolen vehicles along with one mobile phone were handed over to Mayang Imphal Police Station.

A two wheeler vehicle lifter was arrested and three stolen vehicles recovered from his possession at Irong Chesaba Mayai Leikai, under Mayang Imphal Police Station, Imphal West on Wednesday.

After receiving a tip-off about the presence of vehicle lifter gang at Irong bazar with an intent to sell vehicles to promising buyers, a team of police rushed to the said area and conducted mobile frisking and checking, sources said. The police team consisted of OC Commando Kakching Unit inspector Md Abash Khan, assisted by sub inspector Ksh Prakash Singh; sub inspector L Rocky; assistant sub inspector W Rominchandra Singh; havildar Ksh Shantikumar Singh and HC M Lakshman Singh under the supervision of additional SP(Ops)/KCG Ksh Manihar Singh, and under overall supervision of superintendent of Police, Kakching Victoria Yengkhom.  

During the course of frisking and checking, one unknown youth was seen coming in a highly suspicious manner on foot, and he tried to flee after seeing the commando personnel. However, he was overpowered and detained for verification, as per sources.

He identified himself as one Md Ashique alias Ashis ,20, son of Md Munir Khan of Irong Chesaba Mayai Leikai. He disclosed that he kept concealed three stolen two wheeler vehicles.

They are one Royal Enfield Desert storm in colour, bearing registration Number KA01EV-8299, Chasis Number ME3U5S5F0BM19008 Engine Number U5SF0BM019008; one Activa Honda 6G, White in colour without registration Number, Chasis Number ME4JF9134JLW146596 and Engine number JF91E-W-0146152; one Honda Dio 3 G, Candy Jazzy blue in colour without registration, Chasis Number ME4JF394EF7025896 and Engine Number JF9E-7039113, source said.

The vehicles were recovered from his residence and seized from the spot at 4:45 pm while he was also arrested from the spot at 5 pm by observing all the necessary legal formalities.

He further said that the stolen vehicles were handed over by one Md Boicha ,20, son of late Md Manap of Irong Salam Achouba Mathak on Wednesday evening and added that he received a sum of Rs 5,000 per vehicle for keeping in his house, for the purpose of selling them to promising buyers, as per the source. 

The arrested person and stolen vehicles along with one mobile phone were handed over to Mayang Imphal Police Station for taking up further necessary action.
