US Consulate General Kolkata, in partnership with Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the US Embassy in India is conducting a five-day ‘train-the-trainer workshop’ for women entrepreneurs of Manipur.

The programme began on Wednesday at JCRW Global College located opposite to BSNL Telephone Bhawan, Imphal West.

The five-day ‘train the trainer workshop’ for women entrepreneurs is being held to polish the business communication and presentation skills of women entrepreneurs of Manipur, with a focus on their networking, negotiating, elevator pitches and formal pitches for specific audiences.

The programme prepared them to deliver a winning business pitch in front of a live audience, including investors, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and academicians.

Speaking to the media after the pitching session, English Language Specialist Dieter Bruhn said that he will work with a group of 18 participants in Imphal to develop a curriculum, where the workshop participants can use as a key training tool with peers.

“During the training, we will teach attitudes, determination, networking, public speaking, and effective communication, which will enhance your skills and prepare you to present your ventures better,” he said.

On August 16, the last day of the five-day workshop in Imphal, the participants will make a presentation of their final pitches and Dieter Bruhn.

Certificates will be handed over to the participants, encouraging and motivating the women leaders to continue training other women entrepreneurs in their circle so that they get noticed by investors and secure fundings for their ventures.

Deputy director of American Center Kolkata, Matthew Bikoff said that language empowers and educates and it makes the people different.

“We are not here to teach you just English but attitudes, determination, networking, public speaking and effective communication,” he said.

The workshop is being held for US Consulate’s entrepreneurship program Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) alumni, and other women entrepreneurs in Manipur.
