Unknown armed miscreants ransacked former ZP member residence

A sit-in protest was held at Tentha Khongbal in connection with the incident demanding the organisations concerned to clarify the reason behind the unlawful act at the earliest.

Unknown armed miscreants ransacked the house of one Khangembam Ongbi Manisang Devi (53), wife of Priyojit, former Zilla Parishad member of Tentha Zilla Parishad, located at Tentha Khongbal under Khongjom PS, Thoubal district on Tuesday at around 10 am.

A sit-in protest was held at Tentha Khongbal in connection with the incident demanding the organisations concerned to clarify the reason behind the unlawful act at the earliest.

Attending the sit-in protest, one meira paibi Laishram ongbi Memcha Devi of Tentha Khongbal said that some unknown armed men all in masks who came in three cars and one gypsy stormed the residence of Kh Priyojit located at Tentha Khongbal.

The house has been locked since the last few days as Priyojit and his wife went to Delhi for medical treatment.

She added that the unknown miscreants broke the key of the main door and got  inside the house and ransacked the furniture items kept there.

Terming the incident as most unfortunate, she said that they strongly condemn the incident and are against any acts of gundaism. She appealed to consult the local Meira Paibis first if there are any issues.

Placards that read, “Strongly condemn turning to Civilians”, “Don’t ransack civilian’s houses” were displayed during the protest.
