Two personnel of Village Defence Force (VDF), who were arrested in connection with a drug-related case, have been terminated from their service and have been remanded into police custody till April 20 along with three other associates.
In an order issued and signed by superintendent of police, Senapati district, Karthik Malladi on Wednesday, it mentioned that as per report submitted by officer-in-charge, Senapati police station that VDF number 10046, H Solomon, son of Hingba Dhansiri and VDF number 10370, Mohon Kumar Bista, son of Man Bahadur Bista, who are both posted at Hengbung Police Out-Post, Senapati have been arrested in connection with FIR registered at Senapati Police Station under NDPS Act, 1985 and 384 IPC on Tuesday.

Both the personnel were produced before Duty Magistrate, Senapati on Wednesday and they were remanded into police custody till April 20 for further investigation.
The order further mentioned that both the personnel were involved in extortion and concealing of contraband in unbecoming of a member of an active police force like VDF. It stated that the engagement of both the personnel will be discontinued and their names are struck-off from the strength of VDF, Senapati district police with immediate effect in public interest.
It further mentioned that all kits issued to them should be returned to in-charge, store, district head quarter, Senapati immediately.
The two VDF personnel, along with three persons, were arrested by the district police Senapati and seized 79 soap cases of suspected brown sugar from their possession near Maram Centre, Senapati district on Tuesday.
The other three associates were also produced before the same duty magistrate and they were also remanded for police custody till the same period.
