The Trained Nurses' Association of India (TNAI) lauded the health department of Manipur for taking swift action against the medical officer of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), who had manhandled a staff nurse of the institute on June 9.
The medical officer was accused of assaulting a staff nurse while on duty at the COVID-19 ward of the hospital.
A release signed by TNAI president, N Tangbi Devi and its secretary, Th Binodini Devi said that assaulting a nurse who is on duty by the doctor amid this pandemic situation is unfortunate. The association highly appreciated the state government for taking up immediate action by suspending the doctor.
It further said that during this tough situation of pandemic, the role of health professionals is very essential. Such fight between health professionals should not occur again in future.
The immediate action taken by the state government will motivate healthcare workers to give better service to the public, it added.
